Cambridge Trichology sees patients experiencing hair loss, hair shedding, scalp problems, hair texture problems, and breakage. Our clinical trichologist, Caroline Yates, is a member of the Institute of Trichologists, UK. She holds a BSc in Natural Sciences from Durham University, and a Professional Certificate in Skin & Hair Follicle Science from University College Dublin. As one of the few trichology clinics in the area, Caroline sees patients from Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire.

Caroline is passionate about hair and scalp health, and uses an evidence-based approach to treatments and diagnosis. She works with local GPs, dermatologists, hair system and hair extension experts to ensure patients receive the best possible support.

At the initial one-hour appointment, Caroline will first listen to your concerns, and then take a full medical history, analyse your hair care routine, diet and lifestyle. Caroline will then conduct a full examination of the patient’s hair and scalp, including the use of a trichoscope which provides a magnified image of the scalp and follicular openings. Caroline may also take some samples of hair for examination under a microscope.

Following the consultation, Caroline will provide a diagnosis when possible, and a treatment plan. It may be necessary to write to the patient’s GP, or refer to another medical professional such as a dermatologist or endocrinologist. Patients receive a detailed report within 5 days of the appointment, which includes a summary of the appointment, recommendations and information on the medical condition.
