Penny LevinsonPenny Levinson

Penny is a chartered clinical psychologist working full time in private practice since 2004. She works both from her home in Balsham and at the Beechwood practice in Cambridge, which she joined in June 2009.

Prior to this Penny worked for thirteen years in an NHS paediatric unit as part of a multi-disciplinary team, seeing children at the clinic, as well as at school, and in their home environment. She particularly enjoyed working with parents and their children and was instrumental in setting up and running a support group for mothers’ of newly diagnosed disabled toddlers. After having her own children, Penny moved with her family to Cambridge, where she began working in an adult mental health department and various GP practices, specialising in short and longer term therapy.

Before training as a clinical psychologist, Penny trained as a primary school teacher and taught in a primary school. She also has nursery and pre-school experience. Penny’s work reflects her various interests and experience which includes adult psychotherapy training, training in child psychotherapy and an interest in education and working with children and adolescents.

Penny employs a wide range of clinical techniques in her work, but has a particular interest and specialist expertise in Jungian analytic theory and practice. She has benefitted both personally and professionally from her own experience of therapy and remains committed to her continued professional development through courses, lectures, reading and peer supervision and discussion.

Penny is registered with the British Psychological Society and the Health Professions Council

Penny lives in Balsham with her husband, teenage sons, and dogs.
