Nicki O'Clarey
MSc Dance Science (Laban), Franklin-Method® Movement Teacher ( 2003) and Pilates (BCP ® 1999).
As a keen sports person; I came to Pilates with an ill-conditioned spine and recurring injuries. Pilates provided the foundation for support that had been missing for many years. As there were no classes in Cambridge at the time and my body was complaining bitterly about having to work long hours in front of a PC – I quit my IT job and retrained.
I then studied The Franklin Method over a 3-year period and deepened my understanding of the mechanics of movement. I began to learn more about how the body functions and how to increase movement potential through the use of imagery.
I have a passion for anatomy and learning how the design of the human body facilitates its unique movement. I work with the muscular system, the joints and more recently the myofascia. My research enables me to keep up to date with new movement techniques based on the latest scientific thinking.
I see people for a multitude of reasons, some come for rehabilitation, some for education and others to improve their technique, either sport oriented or dance related. I work with all age ranges.
