Julia Willcock1

Julia is a qualified neuro development therapist and Licentiate for the INPP Method which has been used for over 40 years internationally as a movement based therapy.  It facilitates greater functionality of the central nervous system, bringing improvement in behaviour, learning and emotional response for conditions such as: –

Dyslexia,  Developmental Coordination Disorder (Dyspraxia), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), underachievement,  balance and clumsiness issues, behavioural problems and anxiety.

She conducts a detailed assessment using standard medical neurological tests and creates a gentle exercise programme that gives the brain a second chance to lay down neural connections for those areas which show neuro motor immaturity.

Julia also offers the Johansen Individualised Auditory Stimulation Programme, which uses customised recorded music to rebalance the client’s auditory processing system. Any difficulty in processing sound effects language acquisition in the developing child, as well as the ability to follow instructions and recognise word forms. Johansen IAS is a natural treatment plan for many behavioural and learning issues that have at their core an inability to process sound effectively. It also works well with adults and has a secondary benefit of lifting emotional wellbeing.

Having always been fascinated by the holistic approach to well-being and the body’s innate ability to heal and mend itself, Julia originally trained as a kinesiologist, studying at Nature Care College in Sydney for three years (2004-2007). Kinesiology has at its heart the adherence to Chinese medicine’s Five Element theory and in particular the emotional connection to ill health, which is of fundamental interest to Julia in the way that she works with clients. She had her own clinical practice in Sydney, where she treated both children and adults for a wide range of issues such as agoraphobia, anxiety, childhood developmental delays and muscular aches and pains.

Julia also has a Master’s degree in Teaching from the University of Sydney (2009) and has taught within primary schools in the Cambridgeshire area. This experience has given her a deeper insight into helping children and young people achieve their best in learning, behaviour and emotional stability.
