John Pollard

John PollardJohn has been working as an Integrative counsellor since 1996, firstly in the voluntary and statutory sectors, and for the last five years in private practice. He has experience of working in a short term, time limited way, as well as in longer term work.

Prior to his counselling training John studied philosophy at the University of Essex, focusing on existentialism and the philosophy of mind. He integrates various psychotherapeutic theories in his practice with more philosophical issues such as meaning, values, choice and freedom. He is also interested in the idea of authenticity.

John encourages his clients to lead the way in therapy, wherever possible, although he is an active participant and views therapy as a co-creative relational process. He has also presented workshops, and had papers published, on existential issues within counselling and psychotherapy.

John works with adults on an individual basis.
