Individuals seek counselling or psychotherapy for many reasons.  It may be due to relationship difficulties or breakdown; anxiety, depression, loss, or mid-life crisis, for example. Perhaps you have serious mental health issues or perhaps you are simply looking for a safe, professional, confidential space to work through life’s challenges.  I can offer psychological support with emotional, relationship or mental health issues.

I changed careers in the early 1990s from college lecturing in the social sciences to becoming a psychotherapist.  I am a graduate of The Guild of Psychotherapists, in addition to holding a BA (hons.),MA and PGCE. I am BACP and UKCP registered and accredited and I am also a UKCP registered supervisor for other Psychotherapists, trainees and counsellors.

In my extensive clinical experience over the decades, I have worked in both psychiatric and psychological treatment services in The Whittington and UCH hospitals in London and Addenbrooke’s in Cambridge with both individuals and groups.

Most recently, I headed up a university counselling and wellbeing service for some years offering psychological support to both students and staff, before returning to private practice.

I also work with couples and groups.

Couples approach therapy for many reasons and tend to find that structured, reflective time with a compassionate therapist able to reflect back and help process issues and dynamics, very valuable on the path to resolution of some kind.

Group work can be transforming as individuals gain strength from shared experiences, facilitated by an experienced practitioner.
I have a special interest in working with women in groups struggling with post natal depression. I am setting up a new group open for GP referrals or you can refer yourself if you are a struggling mum.

Working through challenges in life with the psychological support of an experienced therapist can be life changing.
